Great Eastern Sun has established, over the course of the last three years, a close working relationship with one of the largest, most ecologically sensitive organic vegetable growers in the world. This Chinese supplier was organized in 1992 for the specific purpose of developing and promoting organic agriculture and organic food processing. It is now one of the largest, most efficient, most quality conscious, best organized, most technologically innovative, and most ecologically progressive organic vegetable growers and processors in the world.

Our partner company operates 26 organic vegetable farms with 15,000 acres of OCIA certified organic cropland as well as 8 organic rotation plots with an additional 5,000 acres. These farms are all located in areas far from urban centers and residential zones where there is plenty of clean water, rich loose soils with excellent water retention, and free air flow.

Seasoned organic agriculture technicians, graduates of agricultural academies with years of experience operating and managing organic farms, are assigned to live in an on-site cabin located on each of the company’s contracted organic growers’ farms during the entire length of the growing cycle from tilling and planting to harvesting and mulching. This trained specialist provides technical guidance and nursery training and management assistance to the farmers and their workers.

Our partner company is so dedicated to organic principles that it maintains two in-house laboratories for organic testing. The first lab conducts soil testing on every field of every farm the company operates before each crop is planted to determine the condition of the soil and analyze exactly what nutrients must be added to that particular field for that particular crop. This fertilizer formula is then created in the company’s own in-house organic fertilizer factory from animal manure, plant inputs, and minerals and applied to that particular field before planting.

 After harvesting, each crop from each field is tested for more than twenty different pollutants in the company’s second lab for purity before being approved for organic processing and sale. The company maintains seven of its own technically advanced organic certified processing plants so that all phases of processing from washing, peeling, cutting, and cooking to IQF, canning, air-drying, and freeze-drying to packaging and shipping are carefully controlled within the company’s own facilities and to their own high standards. The company is HACCP Certified, as all Chinese food processing facilities must be by law.
